The history of Pizza Hut was started in Wichita, Kansas by two college brothers who borrowed $600.00 from their mother to start a pizza business. They were Dan and Frank Carney. They opened their first Pizza Hut restaurant in 1958, soon other restaurants and a year later they began franchising. Currently Pizza Hut is the largest pizza restaurant chain in the world. In Puerto Rico, the first Pizza Hut franchise opened in 1965, under the name Pizza Management. However, the first restaurant opened in Ponce (Centro del Sur Shopping Center) in 1976. The first delivery opened on Winston Churchill Avenue in El Señorial in 1986. At present, we have 54 Pizza Hut restaurants throughout Puerto Rico. Pizza Hut ® is a division of YUM! Brands Inc. and has more than 7,200 units in the United States and 3,000 units in more than 86 countries. YUM! Brands Inc., is the parent company of two other leading brands, Taco Bell and KFC. When combined with Pizza Hut ®, these organizations constitute the largest group of restaurants in the world.
